How to Read the Table
Scope – Where the data lives in LollyLaw (e.g., Contact, Matter, User (You), etc.).
Field – The exact placeholder you type into your document where you want the system to insert data.
You can use the same field more than once in a template.
How “You” Fields Work
The “You” fields automatically pull information for the user generating the document.
If a different user is selected in the Document Automation wizard, those fields will pull that selected user's information instead.
Required: Use Mail Merge (MergeField) for All Fields
Every placeholder in your template must be inserted using Word’s Mail Merge (MergeField) feature.
Typing the placeholder directly into the document will not work.
To insert a MergeField in Word:
Go to the Insert tab.
Click Quick Parts.
Select Field.
Choose MergeField.
Under Field Properties, enter the placeholder exactly as shown in the table.
Click OK.
Repeat this process for each field in your template.
Using MergeField ensures Word encodes the field correctly so Document Automation can detect and replace it.
Using a Second Contact (c2 Fields)
Document Automation supports a second contact within the same template.
To reference a second contact:
Use the same Contact placeholders shown in the table.
Replace the prefix
c1withc2.
Example:
Primary contact first name →
c1firstnameSecond contact first name →
c2firstname
Uppercase Output
If you need the output to appear in all uppercase, enter the placeholder in all capital letters.
Note About Contact Fields & Proposed Contracts
Note: Some fields within the Contact scope refer to a proposed contract that has not yet been finalized.
This allows you to generate contract documents before creating a Matter.
To enter proposed contract information:
Go to Contact → Edit
Open the Contract Info section
Enter the relevant data
You do not need to create a Matter before generating a contract document.
